Kandersteg International Scout Centre

The International Scout Centre in Kandersteg (also known as KISC) is a true find, whether a scout, individual or family looking for a hotel alternative. Affordable rooms, plenty of activities, and a very chill vibe, this is a fantastic place to stay for a night or two.

The International Scout Centre is run by scouts from all over the world. Charismatic and helpful, the ever-changing staff is there to help make the most of your stay. Able to accommodate an array of dietary needs, the cafeteria dining experience provides guests the opportunity to grab an affordable meal in a group setting.

KISC accommodations are similar to that of a hostel; no frills, yet everything you need for a relaxed stay. Book your stay in advance, as rooms and camp sites tend to book quickly. To make the most of your time in the region, visit during the summer and winter months when lifts are running and outdoor adventures are plentiful.

On a personal note, we have stayed at KISC on several occasions with our children’s scouting groups. Each time, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and enjoyed activities run by KISC (from igloo building to campfires, to outdoor games and recreation). KISC is like a big family where everyone pitches in to help. Wiping down your table after your meal and tidying your room before your departure, make this an experience that thrives on community and team work.

Tip: For a fantastic day excursion, head up to Sunnbüel, which is just a short walk from KISC.
