Glacier Canyon Grindelwald



Not all gorges are created equally. The Glacier Canyon in Grindelwald is the ideal location for those looking for an extra special experience. What makes this gorge unlike any other is the "spiderweb." This massive net spans 172 meters over the gorge and allows visitors the opporunity to explore the net by foot. This is particularly enticing for children.

Explore the gorge and its tunnels for approximatley 1 km. The gorge is a fabulous way to get a new perspecitve on the natural world.


The gorge is illuminated with colorful lights on Friday evenings and remains open until 22:00. The rock walls of this area reach an incredible 300 meters in height, making visitors feel small in scale. The gorge is fed by the Lütschine River, keeping the temperatures inside cool even on the hottest days.

Be Aware:

  • There is an entrance fee to explore the gorge. Children under six years of age are free. Adult tickets are CHF 19.00 and children under 16 are CHF 10.00. Prices may vary.

  • Bring an extra layer, as the gorge is quite chilly!

  • Parking is available onsite. It is a narrow road leading up to the gorge. Please drive carefully.

  • Open May through October.

  • Some of the tunnel sections are low and have overhanging rocks. Use caution!
