If you are looking for an easy get-a-way that offers a great opportunity for family - friendly sledding, Fürenalp might just be the ideal destination. With well-marked slopes (pink for walking or snowshoeing and blue for sledding) grab a free sled and get ready for a day of fun!
The 1km trail is a genuine delight for everyone!
Parking is available at the Fürenalp cable car station, though parking is limited. Keep in mind that in the winter months, there is one way up and down the mountain, which is by cable car. As of yesterday (February 2021), the cable car was able to take a maximum of five people at a time, so the wait time on nice days might be long.
Well - marked trails!
Gorgeous views at the top with lots of sunshine on clear days!
Food: There is a restaurant at the top of the lift station that is currently offering take-away. If you are looking for the ultimate Swiss experience, the restaurant offers sleds with Fondue, which allows you to have a picnic anywhere you would like on the mountain! Personally, we think it is a genius idea and we saw lots of people enjoying their Fondue on the mountain! Yum!
If you prefer, pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the views on one of the benches.
There are bathrooms inside the lift station at Fürenalp and again in the restaurant at the top of the lift.
Pack plenty of sunscreen for this excursion and don't forget your ski goggles or sunglasses.
Bring lots of water for hydration!
The lift accepts the half-fare travel card.
Adults lift ticket there and back cost: CHF 17.50
Children's lift ticket there and back cost: CHF 8.50
The sledding path is roughly 1km in length and will take about 30 minutes to walk to.
Sleds are free for use right at the lift station. Simply grab a sled and get going!
There are multiple snow shoeing trails in the area if you are interested in additional excursions.
Don't forget a change of cozy clothes for the car ride or train ride home! Have fun!
