Basel Ferries

One of the most charming ways to experience Basel is by ferry. We were reminded of this simple pleasure this week, as we made our way on the "Wild Maa" ferry to a Dr. appointment. Who knew ferry travel would be the most direct route?

Basel is host to four cable pulled ferries that whisk passengers across the Rhine, while providing a gorgeous view of the city. For just CHF 1.60 adult fare and CHF.80 for children, this is one of the most pleasurable ways to experience the city.

The four ferries: "Wild Maa" located at St. Alban, the "Ueli" located at St. Johann, "Vogel Gryff" located at Klingental and finally, the Münster Ferry referred to as "Leu." Each ferry has a unique schedule, but they only operate in good weather. Summer and winter schedules vary, so check timetables before your departure.

Pro Tip: Taking one of Basel's ferries is an idyllic way to show visitors the city. You will not be disappointed with this delightful way to experience the Rhine.
